Our Budget Woodchip Mulch is a low cost yet effective weed suppression product. This is a “whole tree” mulch, so will contain chipped wood, bark, leaves and brash etc. This is all processed through a chipper giving a varied multi coloured texture to the final product.
We don’t sell our Budget Woodchip Mulch as a decorative product because that’s not the intended use. Whereas some of our customers are more than happy with the appearance, we would advise that a layer of our Prime Landscape Woodchip is scattered on top of the Economy Woodchip Mulch, to give a more decorative look. For this we recommend a ratio of at least two to one. (two parts economy to one part prime). This can significantly reduce cost but also gives a decorative finish. We do not however recommend this mulch for children’s play surfaces.
Being a completely natural product, the appearance will inevitably vary. We have therefore taken the time to take pictures of various batches, in order to give a balanced representation of the product.

For the best results it is recommended that our Budget woodchip mulch is layered at 4″ deep (10cm). Then watered with a watering can, which will bring out the natural fiber of the mulch, washing away any fine particles on the surface.
Please note, many of our Landscaper customers us our Budget Woodchip Mulch as a base layer on under other products such as Prime Landscape Woodchip. This can save a lot of money, particularly or large projects.
Whereas unlikely, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that foreign matter such as metal, glass, and plastic could be found in mulches, so we cannot guarantee the complete absence of such materials. We recommend raking over the mulch, once laid to check. As with all gardening duties, we recommend wearing gloves when laying mulch.
